Now that Mariah Carey is in, US Magazine is reporting that one-third of the Jonas Brothers, Nick Jonas, and N.E.R.D.’s Pharell Williams are in talks with the American Idol Producers to complete the Judges Panel.
“Who I Am” singer Nick Jonas, 19, and N.E.R.D. rapper PharrellWilliams, 39, are the frontrunners to fill the two vacant seats at the judges’ table, multiple insiders tell Us Weekly. (Jackson, 56, is being moved into a “mentoring role,” according to a source.)
“Nick is pretty close to signing to be the Idol judge,” one insider says. “They flew him in to L.A. last week for final meetings.”
Williams — who has produced hit records for Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Gwen Stefani — is currently negotiating the terms of his contract. “Everything is looking good, but they’re still working out details,” an insider tells Us.
If this report pushes through, Nick Jonas could be a good addition to represent the younger demographic. Pharell on the other hand can have a greater insight with the music industry today. Though I am wishing that they would add someone like a veteran record producer/musician/manager.
There were also rumors that country superstar Brad Paisley is also in talks to be an Idol judge, something that is more logical because American Idol viewers, and Americans in general, are huge Country Music fans.
