Because I wasn’t able to watch a new movie last week, I will now write about a movie that is coming out on DVD this month (September 18 2012 to be exact), The Cabin In The Woods.

Directed by Drew Goddard (from Cloverfield fame), and written by Joss Whedon (who also directed Marvel’s The Avengers), The Cabin In The Woods is about five friends who went to a remote cabin in the woods, and of course, bad things happen.  But wait, if you think you know this story, think again.

I did not totally expect that the story went in that direction.  I thought that this movie is another cliché-filled slasher flick.  Damn I was so wrong.  This is a mind blowing horror film that turns the genre inside out.

It’s good to see Chris Hemsworth doing something normal and human, and not as God-like as Thor.  The other relatively-unknown cast-members were ok as well.

I think that The Cabin In The Woods is an instant horror classic that can sit right next to other modern classic horror flicks such as Insidious, Drag Me To Hell, and The Loved Ones.
