Well the news has reached overseas! Huffington Post and Telegraph both reported that Canadian pop star Justin Bieber is threatened with a ban from entering the Philippines after mocking People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao‘s recent devastating loss to Juan Manuel Marquez. The Biebs posted ridiculing photos on his Instagram account, things that made us, Pinoys, pretty mad and disgusted with the pop star’s immature actions.
Justin Bieber may be on the receiving end of a knockout from the Philippines if he does not apologize for ridiculing the Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao.
Bieber was threatened with a ban from entering the Philippines after posting altered photos on his Instagram account making fun of Pacquiao’s loss to Juan Manuel Marquez, the Telegraph reported. Pacquiao lost to Marquez during a wildly anticipated match on Dec. 8 in a stunning sixth round knockout that left him face down on the canvas.
Bieber shared two mock images of Pacquiao, who is both a boxer and a politician, after the loss.
One image shows Pacquiao face down in the ring with a cartoon Simba from “The Lion King” nudging the boxer as he did his dead father, Mufasa, in the Disney film. “Dad wake up,” Bieber wrote. The other image features Pacquiao with Michael Jackson in his “Smooth Criminal” performance. “Pacquiao doing the lean with MJ.. Classic moment,” joked Bieber.
Bieber’s Pacquiao insult reached the Philippines Congress, of which Pacquiao is a member, who demanded an apology from the singer for his “distasteful comments … lest he be declared persona non grata,” according to Yahoo! Sports U.K. “Mr. Bieber should have known that the Hon. Pacquiao has reached his stature as such as a result of sheer hard work, determination and firm belief in God, and despite such stature best exemplifies humility and grace even in defeat.”
The Biebs responded with a challenge to all Filipino Beliebers and the Lawmakers with a strong sense of immaturity.
“If they were Beliebers I know they wouldn’t leave my side over [a] boxing opinion I have,”
Pacman released a statement saying that he would just pray for Bieber. Personally (and thankfully) I am not a fan of Bieber and it would be nice if he gets the ban. It would sound a little overreacting for the Pinoys, but hey, I want that
douchebag in the making little kid to be taught a thing or two about giving RESPECT. He does NOT in any way have the right to mock someone beyond his contemporaries. But if he wants to, let’s have a little reality check: how many belts did Pacman win? Oh yeah, EIGHT. Now answer me Bieber: how many Grammy Nominations do you have this year? Peace.
