Jimmy Iovine OUT, Randy Jackson BACK IN on ‘Idol’!

I knew it, Randy Jackson just could not quit American Idol.  Deadline reported that behind-the-scenes mentor Jimmy Iovine is LEAVING the show where he served as a mentor for Idol aspirants for the past three seasons, AND Jackson is set to fill the void!

EXCLUSIVE: The sweeping changes on Fox’s American Idol continue. I’ve learned that top music producer Jimmy Iovine is leaving the talent competition series, where he served as an in-house mentor for the past three seasons. I hear he will likely be replaced by former Idol judge Randy Jackson.

When last season ended, Jackson made an announcement that he was leaving Idol, however during FOX’s TCA presentation in May, chairman Kevin Reilly hinted that Jackson will be back in “some capacity.”

Although Jennifer Lopez‘s return to Idol is ON, according to her boyfriend, FOX has yet to make a formal announcement.  Meanwhile, music producer Dr. Luke has been in talks and is close to sealing the deal as the third and final judge, joining Keith Urban and supposedly J.Lo.
